From Adelaide: Barossa Valley Food and Wine Tour

The Bums on Seats food-and-wine day takes the scenic way into the Barossa rather than the expressway, following the River Torrens up through the Torrens Gorge and into the hills before dropping into the valley from the south. It visits three to four cellar doors depending on the day's schedule, and it is one of the few Barossa tours to include a stop outside the valley proper.

That stop is Kersbrook Hill Wines & Cider, in the Adelaide Hills on the way up, which is where the cider comes in for anyone in your group who is not drinking red all day. From there the route takes in Maggie Beer's Farm at Nuriootpa, the Barossa Reservoir — the Whispering Wall, a curved 1902 dam wall that carries a whisper 140 metres to the other side — and Williamstown in the southern Barossa.

Tastings on the valley floor are typically at Chateau Dorrien on the corner of Seppeltsfield Road, Kies Family Wines at Lyndoch and Chateau Tanunda, with lunch at the Monkey Nut Cafe from a choice of six meals. The coach is back in Adelaide around 5:15pm. This is a good pick if you want the drive itself to be part of the day rather than a transfer to be endured.
